Türkiye unveils first major projects in Syria

Türkiye is looking to contribute in the reconstruction of Syria, by announcing plans to support Syria through the implementation of major projects aimed at improving infrastructure and strengthening economic relations.

According to reports, the new Syrian administration has requested to benefit from Turkish expertise, especially in the field of transportation, to accelerate the reconstruction of infrastructure.

These efforts aim to facilitate the transfer of goods and improve economic conditions between the two countries.

Among the projects being discussed between the Syrian administration and Turkish companies, such as rehabilitation of old railways dating back to the Ottoman era, establishment of high-speed train lines linking Syrian cities, and developing a modern metro system in Damascus and Aleppo to meet growing transportation needs.

The Turkish projects also seek to improve maritime transport between Antakya and Mersin in Türkiye and the Syrian city of Latakia, which will contribute to enhancing trade between the two countries.

In addition to transportation projects, plans include improving the infrastructure of Syrian airports, with a focus on Damascus and Aleppo airports, as these efforts aim to enhance security and facilitate air traffic, through installing X-Ray devices and metal detectors, and maintaining airport runways to improve their readiness.

Also, filling gaps in air radar systems with Türkiye’s help to develop these systems.
