Türkiye: Israel is the biggest threat to the region and must stop undermining Syria’s stability

Türkiye asserted that Israel poses the greatest threat to the region and that it must stop undermining efforts to establish stability in Syria.

This came in a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, commenting on the attacks launched by Israel on Syria on Wednesday.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said, “The provocative statements made by Israeli ministers against our country reflect the psychological state they are experiencing, as well as the aggressive and expansionist policies of the fundamentalist and racist Israeli government”.

The statement pointed out the need to address the reasons for Israel’s concern over developments in Syria and Lebanon, which enjoy worldwide support and represent a significant beacon of hope for achieving peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

It was reported that Israel launched simultaneous air and ground attacks on several sites in Syria on Wednesday, despite the absence of any provocation or direct attack against it in the Syrian arena.

The Turkish Ministry explained that these attacks can only be explained by the fact that Israel’s foreign policy approach feeds on conflict, streesing that “by targeting Türkiye, Israeli ministers cannot conceal the genocide they are committing in Gaza, the all-out war they are waging against the Palestinian people, their settler terrorism, their intentions to annex the West Bank, or the expansionist ambitions behind their attacks on Syria and Lebanon”.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry added that through its attacks targeting the territorial integrity and national unity of the countries of the region, Israel has become “the greatest threat to the security of our region”.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry noted that Israel is causing chaos and fueling terrorism, as it is a strategic destabilizing factor in the region, and it also stressed that in order to establish security throughout the region, Israel must first abandon its expansionist policies, withdraw from the territories it occupies, and stop undermining efforts to achieve stability in Syria.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in putting an end to the recklessly escalating Israeli aggression.
