Turkish security announces that the terrorist attack in Istanbul was carried out by a Syrian Kurdish woman
A statement issued by the Istanbul Security Department, which investigates the violence, announced that “the terrorist attack on the central Istiklal Street in Istanbul was carried out by a Syrian citizen sent from the Syrian city of Ain Arab (Kobani) and linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party in Türkiye”.
The statement said, “The detained Syrian citizen, Ahlam al Bashir, confessed during her interrogation that she is a member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party”.
An explosion occurred in Istanbul’s Taksim tourist square on Sunday afternoon, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at least six people were killed.
Turkish Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag said that a woman left a bag before the explosion occurred, and it is suspected that she carried out the terrorist act in Istanbul.
