Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the trade war sparked by US tariffs threatens a hurricane that will affect everyone.

This came in a speech delivered by President Erdogan on Wednesday to his Justice and Development Party (AKP) bloc in the Turkish parliament in the capital, Ankara.

He added, “It appears that the trade war sparked by tariffs will have a global impact, and it’s no exaggeration to say that a hurricane is coming that will affect everyone”.

He pointed out that Türkiye will overcome this stage easily, given the low US tariffs imposed on it.

In this context, President Erdogan stressed that global actors agree that no equation can be created without Türkiye.

He stressed that “Türkiye has become a role model for the plays it writes, and isn’t an extra given a role in the plays of the superpowers”.

It’s worth noting that the administration of US President Donald Trump has raised tariffs on a large number of countries around the world, primarily historical trading partners of the United States.

This includes Türkiye, whose tariffs on goods exported to the United States, according to the tariffs proposed by Trump, amount to 10%, a very low rate compared to other countries.

This move could destabilize US relations with many countries around the world and will heavily impact the global economy.
