Turkish military sources: talk about the start of the Turkish military operation in north-eastern Syria after the Eid Al Adha
A Turkish military sources said Monday that the Turkish military operation east of the Euphrates may begin after Eid Al Adha.
The Russian news agency “Sputnik” reported, that, “The Turkish army may launch the military operation after Eid Al Adha as planned, or may be carried out at any moment in accordance with developments”, the report said.
“The Turkish army may launch the operation at any moment In the event of Turkish territory under attack from Syrian territory, as happened in the military operation in the city of Afrin in northern Syria.
The sources added: “Ankara and Washington haven’t yet reached an understanding on the depth of the safe area east of the Euphrates, where the United States proposed that the Turkish military operation to be carried out at a depth of 7-8 km”.
“It makes no sense to carry out a military operation so deep, so Ankara insists on carrying out the operation at a depth of 30 km and will not back down”.
On the other hand “Sputnik”, cited an unnamed Kurdish source that “the Turkish military operation in the east of the Euphrates will be limited”.
The source added: “The military operation planned by the Turkish army east of the Euphrates will be limited, and may be limited to bombing sites of the Syrian Democratic Forces”.
He added: “The United States will not allow the Turkish army to invade cities in the east of the Euphrates, and will turn a blind eye for several days of Turkish military operations, and I expect that the process will not prolong, and that the clash between the SDF and the Turkish army is limited”.
The Kurdish source pointed out that “the operation to be carried out by the Turkish army in the east of the Euphrates is fateful for the Kurdish people in Syria”.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) vowed to respond decisively to any Turkish attack on northern and eastern Syria, and noted that “the long border strip will turn into a battlefield with Turkey”.
This was said by Nowruz Ahmed, a member of the General Command of the “SDF” during a press interview Monday.
According to the Independent newspaper, Ahmed warned against “the consequences of the war that will change the balance of power throughout the region, if Turkey does not choose dialogue as a way to resolve”.
Mustafa Bali, a spokesman for SDF, told the paper that “Turkish threats are serious and that Turkey is ignorantly ignoring the international will and the will of the international coalition against terrorism and undermining efforts to fight ISIS”.
He said that “if Turkey carried out its attack on the region, this may be a new opportunity for ISIS to regain control of the areas liberated (SDF) and declare his succession again”.
