United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a report issued by the United Nations that the so called the Islamic State has amounts of up to $ 300 million, after the loss of the so-called “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria, with no financial demands to control the territory and population.

The report, which was presented to the Security Council on the threat posed by the group on Monday, said the decrease in the frequency of attacks by the armed group “may be temporary”.

Guterres said he believed the group was able to channel these funds to support “terrorist acts” inside Iraq, Syria and abroad using services such as informal money transfer companies.

It also encourages increased financial self-sufficiency through a network of supporters and affiliates elsewhere in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
