Trump: The Iranian president is a friendly man
The US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he was not planning to hold a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani despite “requests” made in this regard.
“Despite the requests, I have no plans to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani”, Trump said in a tweet via Twitter. We may meet someday in the future. I’m sure he’s a friendly man”.
Last Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview with NBC that Trump wanted to meet Rouhani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, provided that the request for the meeting was from the latter.
The meetings of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly will be held later today, in the presence of leaders and leaders from more than 140 countries.
In his speech at the opening of the meetings, the US president is expected to point his arrows at Iran, similar to the threats he made at last year’s meetings against North Korea.
