Trump: The decision to attack Qatar was made by Netanyahu not me.

US President Donald Trump said that Israel’s decision to attack Qatar was entirely in the hands of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that they “didn’t have enough time to stop the attack”.

This came in a statement posted on Truth Social on Tuesday regarding the Israeli attack on the Hamas negotiating delegation in Qatar.

Trump added, “The unilateral bombing of Qatar, a sovereign state and close ally of the United States that has worked hard and courageously alongside us to achieve peace, won’t serve the goals of Israel or the United States”.

He continued, “This decision was made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, not me,” noting that his administration was informed of the attack shortly before it occurred via the US military.

Trump explained that he had instructed his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to inform the Qataris of the “imminent attack” as soon as he received information about it, “but unfortunately, it was too late to stop it”.

Trump described the Israeli attack on Qatar as an “unfortunate incident,” assuring Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman that such an attack “won’t be repeated on their soil”.

He stated that he had tasked US Secretary of State Marco Rubio with completing the defense cooperation agreement with Qatar.

Earlier on Tuesday, Qatar announced that Israel had launched a cowardly attack targeting the residential headquarters of several members of Hamas’s political bureau in Doha.

The Israeli military quickly announced in a statement that it had attacked the “Hamas leadership” in Doha with its air force, in cooperation with the Shin Bet security service.

Later, Hamas announced that “the enemy failed to assassinate the brothers in the negotiating delegation, while a number of martyrs were killed”.

The statement explained “among the martyrs were Jihad Labad, the director of the office of Hamas leader Khalil al Hayya in Gaza, and his son, Hammam al Hayya, in addition to three of his companions: Abdullah Abdul Wahid, Moamen Hassouna, and Ahmed al Mamluk”.

In its statement, the movement also mourned Badr al Humaidi, a member of the Qatari Internal Security Forces, who was also killed in the attack.
