US President-elect Donald Trump has caused confusion after his ambiguous response to a question about the possibility of a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This came during an interview conducted by journalist Michelle Price on CNN, where she asked him the question directly in front of the camera.

“Well, I don’t know… There’s a traditional meeting… Some people might say we’ll have a traditional meeting… We met a week and a half ago, but if the time is right, I’d be interested in that, you know, I’d love to do that,” Trump replied.

The statement raised questions about the meeting he was referring to, leading to widespread media speculation about who Trump was referring to.

According to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to CNN, Trump’s transition team made it clear that the president-elect was actually referring to a previous meeting he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, not President Putin.

Trump met Zelensky in Paris last December, in a three-way meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.

According to Axios, Trump wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting Zelensky at first, but agreed after insistence, and the meeting that took place lasted only 35 minutes.

The New York Post reported that Trump appeared clearly uninterested during the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
