US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that resolving the conflict in Ukraine has become more complicated than some expected, noting that there are differences between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I had problems with Zelensky… Resolving the Ukraine conflict is more difficult than it seems at first glance,” Trump told reporters after the NATO summit in The Hague.

Despite these difficulties, Trump affirmed his confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks to end the crisis, saying, “What I know for sure is that Putin wants to end this conflict”.

In a related development, Trump announced that the United States is considering supplying Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems, noting that “Ukraine desperately needs Patriot air defense systems, and we will consider providing some”.

It’s worth noting that the NATO summit in The Hague, held on June 25, was a platform for making important decisions regarding increasing defense spending and strengthening the military industries of the alliance’s member states.

These developments come amid the ongoing Russian special military operation, launched on February 24, 2022, with the aim of protecting the residents of the Donbas region from the persecution they have been subjected to by the Kyiv for years.

Despite the massive military and financial support provided to Ukraine by NATO and other Western countries, Russian forces were able to thwart the so-called Ukrainian counteroffensive, reflecting the complexity of the military and political landscape in the region.
