US President Donald Trump presented a US plan for the Gaza Strip to leaders of Arab and Islamic countries on Tuesday evening, which has been subjected to a genocidal Israeli war for nearly two years.

This came during a summit meeting in New York City, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting was attended by leaders and high-ranking officials from countries including Türkiye, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, and Pakistan, according to a live television broadcast.

At the meeting, Trump presented a US plan to end the war in Gaza and the future of the Palestinian Strip.

As he left the meeting, Trump said, “My meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders regarding Gaza was great,” without elaborating.

At the beginning of the meeting, Trump said that this meeting is very important to end the war in Gaza.

He explained that the meeting participants will discuss the possibility of halting the war in Gaza and recovering the Israeli hostages held in the Palestinian enclave.

Trump added, “This is the most important meeting I’m having today… I’ve had 32 meetings in this place”.

He added, “But this is very important to me, because we will end something that wasn’t supposed to happen,” without providing further details.

During the meeting, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said, “The situation in Gaza is dire, and we are here to do everything we can to end the war and return the hostages”.

For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described the meeting on Gaza with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, as very good and fruitful.

Erdoğan met with Trump at the regional meeting on Gaza, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In this regard, Erdogan said: “We’ve just concluded a very fruitful and good meeting… I am grateful and hope for a good outcome”.

Erdoğan added, “The final statement will likely be announced shortly… The final statement of this evening’s meeting will be revealed through the statements made by both Mr. Trump and Mr. Tamim… We’ve concluded a very productive and enjoyable meeting”.

In response to a reporter’s question about his satisfaction with the meeting, Erdoğan said, “I am satisfied… I hope the outcome will be good”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected several proposals accepted by Hamas for a prisoner exchange and an end to the war, insisting on continuing the war.

The Israeli opposition and the hostages’ families assert that Netanyahu is continuing the war to maintain his position, fearing the collapse of his government if the most extremist faction, which refuses to end the war, withdraws.
