The US Treasury Department is lifting sanctions on Russian groups of Rusal and En Plus

The US Treasury Department announced on Sunday the lifting of the sanctions imposed in April on the Rusal group and En Plus group, controlled by Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska, who is close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Treasury Department issued a statement that the two Russian groups had reduced the grip of Deripaska to them, and that both agreed to the existence of independent personalities from the United States and the European Union on its board.
However, this decision may cause anger in the United States, especially among the Democrats.
“The two companies also agreed to unprecedented transparency by allowing the Treasury Department to conduct a thorough review of their operations”, as the US Department of Treasury stated.
It stressed, however, that the sanctions against the Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska were still in place.
