The Syrian transitional president meeting with the Turkish vice president and Turkish government delegation

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz held a working meeting with Syrian transitional President Ahmad al Sharaa and his accompanying delegation in the capital, Ankara, on Sunday.

In a post on X, Yilmaz wrote that held a meeting in Ankara with President Ahmad al Sharaa and Syrian Foreign and Defense Ministers Asaad al Shaibani and Marhaf Abu Qasra.

Yilmaz explained that the meeting was attended by Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, where bilateral relations were discussed from all aspects.

He added, “During our meeting, we held comprehensive consultations on deepening our economic cooperation in the coming period… We evaluated joint steps to achieve financial and economic reforms and enhance prosperity in Syria”.

Yilmaz expressed his great confidence that the historic transformation and political revolution taking place in Syria will culminate in development achievements.

He expected increased public and private investment and higher growth rates with the lifting of sanctions on Syria, emphasizing the need to capitalize on the significant potential between the two countries, which has long been untapped.

He continued, “A developing Syria will greatly contribute to achieving regional prosperity and stability, as well as our bilateral relations”.

The Turkish Vice President expressed his gratitude to Syrian President Ahmad al Sharaa and his accompanying delegation for their constructive and sincere approach.

He said, “We in Türkiye will continue to provide all forms of support to the Syrian people during the phases of peacebuilding, development, and reconstruction”.

The meeting between Yilmaz and al Sharaa was also attended by the head of the Turkish Presidency’s Defense Industries, Haluk Görgün, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Türkiye, Fatih Karahan.

On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with his Syrian counterpart, Ahmed al Sharaa, in Istanbul on an unannounced visit.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department on Saturday, the two presidents met at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul.

The statement said that the meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Syria, and regional and global developments.
