The Syrian transitional President: Dialogue and diplomacy are the way to resolve conflicts and promote peace and stability in the region and the world
Syrian transitional President Ahmad al Sharaa affirmed his country’s belief that dialogue and diplomacy are the means to resolve conflicts and promote peace and stability in the region and the world.
This came during his participation in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, which kicked off Friday, in Türkiye.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted al Shara’a as saying early Saturday morning, “I was pleased to participate in the fourth Antalya Diplomatic Forum, under the slogan ‘Adhering to Diplomacy in a Divided World’”.
He pointed out that his participation “stems from the Syrian Arab Republic’s deep belief that dialogue and diplomacy are the most effective means of resolving conflicts and promoting peace and stability in our region and the world”.
He considered the forum a valuable opportunity to exchange views with a number of leaders and officials on current regional and international challenges.
In a related context, al Sharaa stressed the necessity of respecting the unity and sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic’s territories.
The Syrian president’s statements come as Israel has committed several violations of Syrian sovereignty since he took power, although his administration hasn’t threatened Tel Aviv in any way.
It’s worth noting that Israel seized control of the UN-monitored buffer zone in Syrian territory after the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, under the pretext of ensuring the security of the occupied Golan Heights.
Israel has also been launching airstrikes on Syria on an almost daily basis for months, killing civilians and destroying Syrian military sites, vehicles, and ammunition.
Since 1967, Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights.
Taking advantage of the new situation in the country following the fall of the Assad regime, it occupied the Syrian buffer zone and declared the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement between the two sides.
According to the Syrian news agency, al Sharaa expressed his thanks and appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his kind interest and warm reception.
On Friday, the fourth edition of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum (ADF2025) kicked off, as the event, held from April 11 to 13, is attended by heads of state and government, foreign ministers, and representatives of international organizations.
The forum is being held under the patronage of the Turkish President and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Belek Convention Center in the southern province of Antalya.
The Antalya Diplomatic Forum has become a broad platform for Arab countries to strengthen their diplomatic relations with the regional and international community, in addition to supporting the Gaza Strip in its fight against Israel’s war of extermination.
The forum witnessed extensive meetings between officials from participating Arab countries and their counterparts from around the world, in addition to hosting an Arab-Islamic meeting in support of Gaza and an expanded meeting with European participation.
