The Syrian president receives leaders of the Palestinian factions confirming Syria’s remain supportive of the Palestinian cause
On Wednesday, the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” and other Palestinian factions held a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al Assad in the capital, Damascus.
Syrian President Bashar al Assad stressed that Syria, which everyone knows before and after the war, won’t change and will remain supportive of the resistance.
According to the Syrian offical News Agency (SANA), Wednesday, Assad received a delegation comprising a number of leaders and representatives of the Palestinian factions, where they discussed the results of the reconciliation dialogues that took place between the Palestinian factions in Algeria during the past few days, and ways to enhance these reconciliations to keep pace with the escalating popular situation in the face of the Israeli occupation and its continuing crimes in the Palestinian territories.
The Syrian president considered that the importance of the Algerian dialogues comes from the resulting unity of the Palestinians, and that this unity is the starting point in serving the Palestinian cause, stressing that “the unity of the Palestinian ranks is the basis of their strength in facing the occupation and restoring rights,” noting that “all attempts to erase this the issue from the conscience and mind of the new generations in the Arab region, especially in Palestine, hasn’t and won’t succeed, and what is happening now in all the Palestinian territories proves that the new generations are still clinging to the resistance”.
Assad stressed that “despite the war that Syria is exposed to, it hasn’t changed its positions in support of the resistance in any way, based on the principles and deep conviction of the Syrian people in the cause of resistance on the one hand, and out of interest on the other hand, because the interest requires that we be With the resistance, resistance isn’t a point of view, but rather a principle and basis for restoring rights, and it is human nature”.
For his part, the head of the Hamas delegation, a member of its political bureau, Khalil al Hayya, said in a televised press conference, “Hamas and the Palestinian factions met with Syrian President Bashar al Assad in Damascus in a historic and positive meeting”.
He added: “We’re restoring our relationship with Syria with the consensus of our leadership and conviction, and we have overcome the past”.
He continued, “The meeting is a natural response from the resistance from the heart of Syria, and the president, to tell the occupation and the Zionist projects that target the Palestinian cause, that we are a united nation and resistance in the face of Zionist projects”.
Hamas official pointed out that “Syria is supportive of the cause and the Palestinians, and we assured President Bashar al Assad that we are with a united Syria against being targeted by an external American Zionist aggression”.
Hamas official said that the meeting with President Assad is historic and that Syria is an incubator of the Palestinian people and has provided Palestine with what no other country has offered, adding “President Assad is determined to support Syria for the Palestinian people… We, in Hamas, expressed our happiness with President Assad”.
He continued, “The resistance movement in the nation is unbreakable… and this meeting, in the presence of the Syrian President, is a response to the projects of the Zionist occupation and American bullying”.
“This is a glorious day in which we will resume joint work with Syria,” adding, “We assured Assad that we are with Syria against any aggression against it”.
Al-Hayya said, “The Palestinian division is harmful. The agreement in Algeria can find the light… After the Arab summit, there will be a push for reconciliation”.
