Scotland is approaching a new independence referendum from Britain
Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who is preparing to announce plans to secede from the United Kingdom, said independence was “essential to building an economy that works for all”.
On the other hand, its opponents warned that secession from Britain was a “gamble with the lives of the people”.
The British Prime Minister of Scotland is expected to present on Monday the third independence paper, which will determine the economic and currency plans for an independent Scotland, the British PA Media news agency said.
Before delivering her scheduled speech today, Sturgeon said her country has “an abundance of skilled labor, innovative companies and natural resources,” warning that Scotland’s economy is one of the best performing economies in the United Kingdom, but the British economy, especially after Brexit, lags behind many competing European and international economies.
“The British economic growth has clearly failed and is crippling Scotland, and Independence is now vital to building an economy that benefits everyone”.
The third in the Prime Minister’s “Building a New Scotland” series, is expected to provide more details on the move towards “a more just and environmentally friendly economy that brings people a happy and healthy life”.
To review topics such as fiscal and currency policy in the prospective independent state and border arrangements, which are aimed at attracting investments worth 20 billion pounds (42.4 billion dollars) over the next ten years.
On the other hand, Daniel Johnson, head of the finances issue in the opposition Scottish Labor Party, said that the ruling Scottish National Party needs to abandon the secession plan and speak frankly to the people about the catastrophic reality of its economic plans.
Despite wasted 15 years in a government with the same old agenda, it still failed to provide an answer to basic questions.
