The Syrian President arrives in the Jordanian capital
On Wednesday, Jordan’s King Abdullah II received the Syrian president Ahmed al Sharaa, who is making his first official visit to the Kingdom since assuming office.
The Jordanian Royal Court said in a statement, “King Abdullah II received the Syrian president upon his arrival at Marka Airport in the capital, Amman, on an unspecified visit to the kingdom”.
The statement explained that al Sharaa was also received by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King’s chief advisor for religious and cultural affairs and his personal envoy, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and the King’s Office Director, Ala’a Batayneh.
The Jordanian statement noted that the Syrian President is accompanied on his visit by Foreign Minister Asaad al Sheibani and other officials.
Another statement from the Royal Court is expected to be issued later Wednesday regarding the details of the meeting between King Abdullah and al Sharaa.
