The Syrian army evacuates most of its positions in Daraa and Sweida governorates
The Syrian army announced the start of the operation to regain control in the provinces of Homs and Hama against terrorist organizations, confirming the implementation of a redeployment operation in Daraa and Sweida and the establishment of a defensive and security cordon in those areas.
In an official statement issued by the General Command of the Syrian Army, it stated that its forces operating in Daraa and Sweida had re-positioned themselves and established a tight defensive cordon after terrorist attacks on army checkpoints, in an attempt to destabilize the Syrian forces.
The statement added that the army had already begun to regain control of Homs and Hama, confronting terrorist attacks in the two regions.
The statement stressed that the Syrian army is dealing with these developments firmly, pledging to confront terrorism with all its might to ensure the security of the country and its citizens.
Another military source added that the army carried out concentrated artillery and missile strikes on terrorist sites in the Homs and Hama countrysides, resulting in direct casualties among them.
The Syrian-Russian warplanes also carried out concentrated strikes on terrorist gatherings in the northeastern Homs countryside, killing dozens and destroying their vehicles.
In a related context, our correspondent reported that the Syrian army also targeted gatherings of militants in Daraa through long-range strikes, while clashes renewed on the fronts of the northern Homs countryside, at a time when the Syrian artillery targeted the positions of terrorist organizations.
Sham FM radio also reported that the Syrian army, supported by the air force, launched strikes on the positions of the militants of Hay’at Tahrir al Sham who tried to infiltrate the town of Rabia in the western Hama countryside, killing many of them and destroying many vehicles.
