The Swiss Energy Minister invites her people to a collective shower!
The 62-year-old Swiss Minister of Environment, Transport and Energy, Simonetta Sommaruga, called on the country’s residents to reduce energy consumption, through collective showers.
The minister promoted a 15% reduction in energy consumption next winter, by turning off the computer when not in use, turning off the lights and taking a shower together.
After the Swiss minister’s proposal was ridiculed on social media, Sommaruga was forced to correct her statements in another interview with the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper.
She explained that the advice was directed at young people, and admitted that showering people together becomes inappropriate after a certain age.
However, Sommaruga insisted that the idea is generally a good one, and that the goal is to raise awareness among people about the need to save energy.
