NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visiting the alliance’s Air Defender 2023 maneuvers.

The two were briefed on the maneuvers at Schleswig Air Base in northern Germany, and informed of the weapons systems in addition to talking to the soldiers there.

Also leaders of the air forces of 18 participating countries attending the maneuvers.

The Air Defender 2023 maneuvers, in which 10,000 soldiers and 250 aircraft from 25 countries participate, are the largest air exercises in NATO’s history.

The maneuvers aim to train NATO’s response to an attack by an imaginary eastern alliance and how to recover territory already occupied by the enemy.
