The Polish President Andrzej Duda, during a visit to Kyiv, called for the removal of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Russia and Germany.

Duda said on Tuesday, during discussions of the so-called international conference of the Crimean Platform, that there will be no return to normal relations with Moscow.

He was quoted by the Polish news agency “PAB” as saying that for this reason there should be a new policy to get rid of Nord Stream 2.

Poland and other eastern European countries have long criticized the Russian-German project as giving the Kremlin leverage over Europe and jeopardizing the continent’s energy security.

The German government refused to operate the line last February, due to a looming Russian attack.

Nord Stream 2 supporters are still there in Berlin though.

At the Crimean podium, Ukraine tried to mobilize international support for the restoration of Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

“Crimea was and still is part of Ukraine, and Gdansk or Lublin is part of Poland, Nice is part of France, Cologne is part of Germany, and Rotterdam is part of the Netherlands,” Duda said.

According to reports in Kyiv, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose country has good relations with Russia, also stated that Crimea clearly belongs to Ukraine.
