The Nord Stream crisis is worsening as Russia is pointing fingers at the US
On Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry revealed that “the Nord-Stream line incident occurred in an area controlled by US intelligence”.
There were accidents that occurred simultaneously, last Monday, on two pipelines to export Russian gas to Europe, where two gas leaks were discovered, one in “Nord Stream-1” and another in “Nord Stream-2” near Bornholm Island.
Germany, Denmark and Sweden announced that they didn’t rule out intentional sabotage.
“The coast guard discovered a fourth gas leak from the Nord Stream pipeline earlier this week,” a Swedish Coast Guard spokeswoman confirmed to the Svenska Digbladet newspaper.
“Two of the four leakage sites are in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone, and the other two are in Denmark’s exclusive economic zone,” Coast Guard spokeswoman Jenni Larsson told the newspaper late on Wednesday.
Although Nord Stream’s two lines were out of service at the time of the suspected explosions, they have been filling up with gas that has been seeping into the Baltic Sea since Monday.
