The New York Times: Israel keep on secretly looking for support to resettle hundreds of thousands of Palestinian from Gaza in Egypt
The New York Times, citing unnamed diplomats, reported that Israel is keep on secretly trying to mobilize international support to resettle hundreds of thousands of Gaza Strip residents in Egypt.
The New York Times said, “Six senior foreign diplomats stated that Israel has secretly tried in recent weeks to mobilize international support to resettle hundreds of thousands of civilians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt”.
Israeli officials and diplomats have proposed the idea to several foreign governments as a humanitarian initiative that would allow civilians to temporarily escape the dangers of Gaza to refugee camps in the Sinai desert, across the border into neighboring Egypt.
The New York Times noted that most Allies, including the United States and Britain, had rejected this proposal, because such a massive resettlement operation might become permanent.
