The New York Times reported, citing sources, that US officials specifically offered Israel steps to reduce civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip.

According to the New York Times, during his visit to Israel on Friday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about concrete steps that, in the opinion of the American side, Israel can and should take to reduce the number of civilian deaths.

The New York Times newspaper noted that Blinken repeated the same topic on Saturday in Jordan after his meeting with Arab leaders.

US officials, who requested to remain anonymous, said that there were a number of conversations in which they advised their Israeli counterparts to take a more moderate approach in their military operations.

The US side believes that Israel could have reduced the number of casualties in the Gaza Strip by improving its methods for targeting Hamas leaders, collecting more intelligence information about Hamas’ command and control networks before launching strikes, and using smaller bombs to destroy a network of tunnels, and using its weapons and ground forces to separate civilian areas from militant areas.
