The Israeli army said on Tuesday that it had recovered the bodies of 6 of its prisoners who had been held in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted the “Prisoners and Missing Persons System” as claiming this morning that “the army forces and the General Security Service (Shabak) were able to rescue the bodies of 6 kidnapped persons from captivity in Gaza, including Avraham Munder, Nadav Popelwell, and Jeff Boshtab, and return them to Israel”.

The Broadcasting Authority reported that the six Israelis whose bodies were recovered were alive on October 7 when they were transferred from the settlements adjacent to Gaza to the Strip.

However, the Broadcasting Authority didn’t clarify where the Israeli army found the bodies and how it removed them from the Strip.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched an attack on settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip, during which it captured dozens of Israelis.

Before talking about removing these bodies, Israel said that it still had 115 prisoners in Gaza, including a number of dead.

On Tuesday, the Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu found itself facing internal criticism after the army announced the recovery of the bodies of 6 of its prisoners from Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip.

On this regard, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid wrote in a post on X platform, “The days go by and we lose more and more hostages… We must make a deal immediately”.

In an indirect criticism of Netanyahu and accusing him of being responsible for their deaths, he added, “They were alive”.

He added, “The Israeli government, with the help of mediators, must agree today to the deal that is currently being concluded in order to restore the living and honor the burial of the dead”.
