The Israeli army creates a new regional brigade for the northern region
The Israeli army announced the establishment of a new regional brigade called the “Heharim” (The Mountains Brigade) to operate on the Syrian-Lebanese border, as part of amendments to the military strategy to address the challenges on the northern border.
The establishment of the new brigade came after a joint effort between the planning and force building departments, the ground forces, and the Northern Command, with an analysis of operational needs during periods of conflict.
The new brigade is scheduled to begin its activity in the coming weeks, specializing in combat in Complex mountainous terrain, and will operate within the framework of the 210th Division and will assume the defense of the Mount Hermon and Har Dov sectors, succeeding the Hermon Brigade (810), which was led by Colonel Liron Appleman.
Intermittent tensions and clashes continue on the border between Lebanon and Israel, raising fears that the situation will escalate into a large-scale conflict, especially with the escalation of clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army.
