The Israeli army begins a military operation… Jabaliya area in the northern Gaza Strip is surrounded and dozens of Palestinian civilians are killed
The Israeli army announced, Sunday, the start of a military operation in Jabaliya, north of the Gaza Strip, following intensive air strikes last night on the area.
The Israeli army said in a statement that the military operations came after receiving prior intelligence information and after an ongoing assessment of the situation and the actions of the forces in the field, which indicated “the presence of saboteurs and terrorist structures in the area, in addition to attempts to restore by Hamas”.
The statement continued, “The combat teams of the 401st and 460th Brigades have completed the encirclement of the area, and the forces will continue to operate in the area”.
The Israeli army indicated that it launched attacks against dozens of military targets to support the maneuvering forces, including weapons depots, underground structures, terrorist cells, and additional military structures, and continued, “The operation will continue as necessary, with systematic strikes and the radical destruction of terrorist structures in the area”.
The Israeli army also issued a statement calling for evacuations in northern Gaza, and published an evacuation map, explaining that the area is still considered a dangerous combat zone, and asked residents to head south toward the Mawasi area.
For its part, the Palestinian News Agency “Wafa” confirmed, quoting its correspondent, that paramedics transferred 10 civilians killed and a number of injuries to Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya camp, north of the Gaza Strip, as a result of an Israeli warplane targeting the Shaaban family’s house in Jabaliya.
He added that two citizens were killed and others were injured as a result of an Israeli bombardment of a residential apartment in the Khadura building near the UNRWA clinic in Jabaliya camp.
He added that Red Crescent paramedics transferred the bodies of 3 dead people and a number of injured people to al Awda Hospital in Jabaliya camp, following an Israeli bombardment that targeted several civilian buildings.
