The Israeli military also reported on Tuesday that it had bombed a secret underground military site linked to Iran’s nuclear program near Tehran, eliminating a vital element of the Iranian regime’s ability to develop atomic weapons.
Military intelligence continued to monitor the activities of (Iranian scientists) and located their new base (allowing a precision strike to be struck) on the secret underground compound,” the statement said.
The military located the facilities at the western end of the Iranian capital, describing the complex as “Minzadehi”, adding that scientists were working there… Since Israel struck several nuclear sites during its war on Iran in June 2025.
Iran’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that Iran was ready for a long-term war against the United States and Israel, and had not yet used its most sophisticated weapons.
“We’ve the ability to resist and continue an offensive defense for longer than (the enemy) expected for this war imposed on us,” Iran’s Defense Ministry spokesman General Reza Talaei-Nik said.
“We don’t intend to use all our weapons and advanced equipment from the first days,” he added.
Israel is also looking into the possibility of helping to protect US interests in the Gulf region, according to the Israeli media.
Citing an Israeli source, the Israeli Official Broadcast said that “talks are taking place in Tel Aviv about the possibility of providing protection to US interests in the Gulf region”.
The Israeli source added, “Discussions are underway about the possibility of providing support to US defense efforts in the region”.
“The joint coalition of regional countries is considering action to provide protection to Gulf states that are under attack from Iran,” he said.
“We may be helping the Americans in their defense efforts as they are helping us,” he said.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is made up of six countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain.
The six countries, as well as Jordan and Iraq, have been under Iranian attacks since dawn on Saturday, following the start of a military offensive by Israel and the United States.
Iran says its targeting what it describes as US interests in the region, but some of them have left dead and wounded and damaged civilian objects, which the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have condemned, calling for an end to these attacks.
In parallel, Tehran has been launching rocket barrages and drones towards Israel, resulting in martyrs and wounded, as part of its response to continuous Israeli and US attacks that have killed hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
