An official source in the Syrian government announced on Friday that a ceasefire agreement has been reached with the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), describing it as final and comprehensive and includes understandings on the implementation of a gradual integration of military and administrative forces between the two sides.

The agreement stipulates the withdrawal of forces from the contact lines, and the entry of the security forces of the Ministry of Interior into the centers of the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli with the aim of promoting stability.

It also includes the formation of a military division that includes three brigades of the SDF forces, in addition to the establishment of a brigade from the Ayn al Arab forces (Kobani) within a division affiliated with Aleppo governorate.

The understandings also include the integration of self-administration institutions into the Syrian state institutions while stabilizing civil servants, settling the civil and educational rights of the Kurdish community, and ensuring the return of displaced people to their areas.

He added that the agreement aims to unify Syrian territory, enforce the law, and enhance cooperation between the various parties, in a way that contributes to advancing reconstruction and stabilization efforts.

The government official confirmed that the agreement was concluded late on Thursday evening, and that the implementation of its provisions would begin immediately on the ground.

In a separate statement, the SDF announced that the agreement already includes a sequential integration mechanism for military and administrative forces, noting the withdrawal of armed units from contact points, the deployment of Interior Ministry forces in Hasakah and Qamishli, as well as the restructuring of military formations as agreed.

The statement added that the understanding includes the integration of self-administration institutions within the state apparatus, guaranteeing the rights of the Kurdish population in the civil and educational fields, and securing the return of displaced people to their areas.

In a related context, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced last Saturday evening the extension of the ceasefire in the northeast of the country for 15 days, after it had approved it earlier in the week against the background of new understandings with the SDF.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense said the decision comes in support of the US operation to evacuate ISIS prisoners from SDF prisons to Iraq.

For its part, the SDF confirmed that the extension was mediated by international and in parallel with the continuation of the dialogue between the two sides, considering that the step aims to reduce the level of escalation, protect civilians, and create the necessary conditions to achieve greater stability in the region.
