Syria: Israeli attack targets air defense facility near Latakia port and more than 150 military targets as part of destroying the Syrian army
Syrian security sources said, Monday, that an Israeli attack targeted an air defense facility near the Syrian port of Latakia overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
For its part, Israeli media said that the Israeli air force attacked more than 150 military targets in Syria on Sunday and Monday, as part of efforts to destroy the Syrian army.
According to the correspondent of the Israeli army radio, dozens of targets that were attacked in Syria were tanks, planes and military helicopters of the Syrian army.
The Israeli army launched the most violent raids on Syria since the October 1973 war, according to what Israeli media reported from sources in the air force.
Meanwhile, Israeli Channel 12 said that the air force is operating on a very large scale throughout Syria in order to destroy what remains of the Syrian army.
Channel 12 Israel stressed that this is the right moment to get rid of all the capabilities of the Syrian army, so that they don’t fall into anyone’s hands, and it doesn’t matter who is in power later.
Kan Channel quoted an Israeli official as confirming that Israel’s goal is to destroy all of the Syrian army’s equipment, from tanks to missiles.
In one of the raids launched on Sunday, Israel targeted the security square in the Kafr Sousa area, in central Damascus, which includes the intelligence and customs buildings, which led to the outbreak of large fires there.
Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, confirmed the occupation’s decision to continue controlling strategic points in Syria, establish a security buffer zone, target strategic weapons and air defense systems, and any attempts to transfer weapons to Lebanon.
For its part, Hamas condemned, “the brutal and repeated aggression of the Zionist occupation against Syrian lands,” stressing its categorical rejection of “any Zionist ambitions or plans targeting sisterly Syria, its land and people”.
