Syria: An Israeli Air raid almost completely destroy Hama Military Airport

The Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a strongly worded statement condemning the recent Israeli airstrikes targeting five different areas across the country, considering these attacks a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law.

The statement read, “The Israeli aggression, which occurred within just 30 minutes, resulted in the near-total destruction of Hama Military Airport, in addition to dozens of civilian and military casualties”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry described the Israeli attacks as an unjustified escalation aimed at destabilizing and prolonging the suffering of the Syrian people, stressing that the repeated attacks come at a time when Syria is trying to recover and rebuild after more than a decade of war.

The statement added, “through these raids, Israel seeks to re-establish violence in the region and promote a policy of impunity,” calling on the international community to take a clear stance against these attacks.

Damascus urged the United Nations and international organizations to take urgent measures to stop the Israeli escalation and prevent the recurrence of such attacks, stressing the need for Israel to adhere to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement.

In a related context, Israel launched a series of large-scale raids on Wednesday night targeting military facilities in Damascus, Homs, and Hama.

Israeli aircraft targeted the scientific research building in the Barzeh housing neighborhood in the capital, Damascus.

Hama military airport was subjected to intense bombing with more than 15 raids, causing widespread destruction.

The T4 military airport near Palmyra in the eastern Homs countryside was bombed, with local sources indicating extensive damage.

An Israeli source told the Jerusalem Post that the recent airstrikes targeting sites inside Syria were not only part of regular military operations, but also a direct message to Ankara.

According to the source, Israel is warning Türkiye against establishing a military base in Syria or interfering in Israeli airspace.

The Israeli army confirmed in an official statement that the raids targeted military areas around Hama, in addition to bombing the scientific research building in the Barzeh neighborhood of the capital, Damascus.

The statement added, “Over the past hours, our forces carried out precise airstrikes on remaining military sites at Hama and T4 airports in the Homs countryside, in addition to targeting military infrastructure around Damascus”.

It stressed that operations will continue “to ensure Israel’s security and prevent any potential threat,” referring to the continued targeting of military sites inside Syria.

This escalation comes amid rising regional tensions, amid Israeli warnings of what it describes as “potential Turkish intervention” in Syria.
