Steve Witkoff talks about a possible visit to Tel Aviv next week
US President Steve Witkoff’s special envoy confirmed on Tuesday evening that a single bomb could wipe out Israel.
Steve Witkoff added during an interview with CNBC: “Israel is a country that can be wiped out with a single bomb… One bomb may take it out of existence… That’s why it’s existential for Israel”.
“But we can also see now with this offensive missile shield, that Iran has been forced to protect its nuclear program through the chaos and turmoil its doing in the region with the countries of the Middle East,” he said.
Asked how do you see the end of this war? Steve Witkoff answered: “I don’t know… But what I do know is that President Trump isn’t the right person to stand up to or challenge him… That’s what I know”.
Regarding the allegations that Iran is close to a nuclear weapon and the claims that Washington isn’t acting against Tehran for lack of evidence, Witkoff said, “First, they had 460 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium… There is no justification for having a 60% enrichment rate, there is no justification at all, unless they are seeking to have a weapon”.
Witkoff also spoke Tuesday of a possible visit to Israel next week to coordinate with Israel’s leadership on continuing the war on Iran.
In an interview with CNBC, Witkoff said “we’re probably going to make this trip next week, but noted that the timing isn’t yet certain”.
Witkoff revealed that he had canceled a trip he was scheduled to take this week to Israel with Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
He pointed out that this had nothing to do with information reported by US media that there were disagreements with Israel’s leadership on the conduct of the war, especially after the Israeli raids over the weekend that targeted fuel depots in Tehran.
“The visit we were planning wasn’t aimed at settling differences, because I don’t think there are many of them,” he said.
“It was more about coordination, understanding their position and discussing all the important things that need to be talked about, whether there is an agreement or not,” he added.
Asked if the United States and Israel are on the same wave when it comes to war goals, Witkoff said, “I would say that Israel is a country that can be eliminated with one bomb… One bomb is enough to eliminate them, and that’s why it’s an existential issue for Israel”.
The US envoy reiterated that he had concluded during the latest round of negotiations in Geneva that Iran wasn’t negotiating in good faith and didn’t want to reach an agreement on the nuclear issue, which prompted Trump to launch strikes.
