Official data showed that Britain recorded 27,052 cases of Coronavirus on Saturday, compared to 28,507 cases on Friday.

The data also showed 534 deaths, up from 489 the previous day.

As a result, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced Saturday to re-impose the closure in London and the southeast of England, starting from Sunday, which means that families cannot meet during Christmas, in an attempt to stop the rise in infections attributed to a new strain of Coronavirus.

“It seems that this spread is fueled by a new type of virus,” the Prime Minister said at a press conference.

“It is transmitted” much more easily”.

He added that “there is no indication that it is more lethal or that it causes more serious symptoms,” or reduces the effectiveness of vaccines.
