Senior Israeli general threatens to target the S-300 missile system in Syria

A senior Israeli Air Force officer said the Russian S-300 missile system in Syria had become “operational” and that the Israeli army was “preparing itself to neutralize what should be neutralized and to achieve freedom at every point during a possible war”.
“Every missile battery that threatens our freedom of action and the completion of our mission can find itself under attack”, said The Brigadier General Tomer Bar.
“It’s not right to get into the issue of whether the (S300) system is being run by the Syrians, or under the supervision of the Russians, in all cases we have to prepare to be operational tomorrow morning”.
Barr pointed out that the training course for Syrian staff to deal with the system, which lasted several months, ended, “and may require the training of other crews”.
Barr added that the Israeli army “is working so that there will be no second Hezbollah and Iranian militias in Syria.
We’re doing all we can to ensure that there is no Iranian presence on Syrian soil.
The insistence we show on this subject has come to a conclusion, but we have not reached the end yet”, he said.
But he pointed out that the Iranian insistence on positioning in Syria “is still continuing” and that “Tehran will not concede easily”.
