Senegal successfully launches its first satellite as its president sees it as a step towards technological sovereignty
Senegal successfully launched its first satellite on Friday from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, with the aim of observing, monitoring, collecting, and analyzing data that contributes to the management of natural resources, agricultural development, and disaster prevention.
It’s worth noting that building this satellite was started in 2019, and through its launch, the country seeks to make space a real lever for social and economic development for the country.
On this aspect, the Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Afai said that his country was entering a new era with this successful launch of the first satellite GAINDESAT-1A.
In a tweet on X, he praised the hard work done by Senegalese engineers and technicians, considering it a big step towards Senegal’s technological sovereignty.
