The SDF, backed by the US army, agreed to hand over the strategic city of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqa to the Syrian army within the next few days.

According to local media, an agreement has reached on Sunday, December 27, in the city of Ain Issa, during which the “SDF” organization pledged to hand over the city to the Russian side and the Syrian army, after several hours and days of negotiations.

According to the preliminary information available, Ankara was preparing to carry out an attack on the city during the past hours, but the SDF’s acceptance of handing over the city to the Syrian army stopped this attack.

As for the terms of the agreement, “There is still no accurate information about the full terms of the agreement, but the Kurds told the Russian side that they are ready to withdraw from Ain Issa completely, and that practical steps on the ground will start within the next few hours”.

This comes in light of a military operation launched by the Turkish forces and the armed “Turkmen” militias loyal to them on Ain Issa district in the northern countryside of Raqqa, with the aim of removing the Kurdish organizations from the Turkish borders, according to Ankara’s claim.

Ain Issa city takes on vital importance due to its strategic location on the international highway (Hasakah-Raqqa-Aleppo) known as (M4) linking between eastern and western Syria.

All the competing parties are trying to impose their complete control over the city, as the SDF organization affiliated with the US army, which controls the largest part of it and its villages, means its loss of the city, the loss of an important vital artery, and the cutting of the supply route from the cities of Ain al Arab (Kobani) and Manbij in the countryside of Aleppo, Its isolation from Raqqa and Hasakah governorate, and a complete dismemberment of the so-called (regional administration) run by the organization.
