Saudi Crown Prince in a phone call with Iranian president: The Kingdom won’t allow the use its airspace or territory in any military actions against Iran
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a phone call on Tuesday that the kingdom wouldn’t allow its airspace or territory to be used in any strike on Iran.
During the call, the crown prince stressed the Kingdom’s position in respecting the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and that the Kingdom won’t allow the use of its airspace or territory for any military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran or any attacks from any side regardless of its destination.
From his part, the Iranian president discussed with the Saudi crown prince US threats, regional security and bilateral relations.
According to a statement issued by the Iranian presidency on Tuesday, Pezeshkian had a phone call with the Saudi crown prince.
During the call, Pezeshkian said that some US- and Israeli-backed groups have killed a large number of civilians and security personnel, and caused extensive damage to public facilities, markets and places of worship, in events that have killed thousands of people inside the country.
The goal was to destabilize Iran, but the community’s reaction prevented these goals from being achieved, Pezeshkian said.
The Iranian president expressed his thanks to the Islamic countries that have supported his country during the recent developments, especially Saudi Arabia.
“The Americans’ threats and psychological processes are aimed at disrupting the security of the region and will only lead to further instability… I believe that the unity and solidarity of Islamic countries are sufficient to ensure security, stability and lasting peace in the region, and therefore the role of our esteemed brothers in Islamic countries in this regard is very important,” Pezeshkian said.
Pezeshkian touched on the statements of Western countries calling for Iran’s return to the negotiating table.
“We were negotiating with the Americans who launched a military attack against us in front of the eyes of the world… We reached an agreement with the European countries, but it was the Americans who failed to do so… From their point of view, negotiation and interaction means ‘we say and you implement,’ and this isn’t called dialogue,” he added.
Pezeshkian stressed that Iran is open, within the framework of international law and while preserving its national rights, to initiatives aimed at establishing peace and preventing conflicts.
For his part, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed that achieving regional stability and security and the development of countries are among the priorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of solidarity and unity of Islamic countries.
“We consider any aggression, threat or escalation targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran unacceptable, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ready to cooperate comprehensively with Iran and the rest of the region in order to achieve lasting peace and security,” he said.
