Satellite footage reveal the new headquarters of the Egyptian army
The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi’s government is working to establish a new headquarters for the Egyptian Defense Ministry, which is going to be the largest building in the Middle East, probably in the world.
The building located in the new administrative capital of Greater Cairo.
The new building, called the Octagon, will be housing all branches of the Egyptian armed forces and is due to be completed soon.
As what seems to be an imitation of the US Pentagon, the “Octagon” is the name given to the new headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense in the new administrative capital.
It is designed in the form of an octagonal building, or more accurately in the form of several eight-faceted buildings connected to corridors connected to a central building in the center.
The project is located on a total area of 189 thousand square meters, while the actual area of buildings is estimated at 45 thousand square meters.
The design includes eight octagonal buildings in a pharaonic style in the form of a circle of administrative buildings, while two central ministerial buildings are located in the center of the department and communicate with each other Some with the other eight buildings are external corridors longitudinal, and the number of these buildings is equal to the number of departments of the Egyptian army.
