On April 17, the deadline for a halt to mutual attacks on each other’s energy facilities, announced as part of the Russian-US agreements, expires.

Ukraine hasn’t stopped targeting Russian energy facilities throughout this period.

So, how will Russia behave after the freeze period ends?

According to Russian military analyst Igor Korotchenko, there are three scenarios in the Russian hand:

Scenario 1: Russia once again declares that it will continue to implement the ceasefire for some time, but at the same time asks the United States to pressure Zelenskyy to also abide by his commitments and cease provocations.

This, so to speak, is the path of diplomatic pressure.

Scenario 2: Russia announces the end of the ceasefire, followed immediately by large-scale missile strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Scenario 3: A major demonstration could be carried out.

For example, selecting one of Ukraine’s key energy facilities and destroying it on live television, so everyone can see that Russia is capable of such actions.

It could then be argued that this was a show for Zelensky, and that Russia is prepared to continue the suspension of strikes, but only if Zelensky fulfills similar obligations under US guarantees.

If these obligations are violated, Russia will continue demonstrative missile strikes with the complete destruction of specific targets.

According to the Russian Military analyst, he specifically supports the third Scenario.

This is a public action that, on the one hand, will demonstrate our capabilities, strength, and determination, and, on the other hand, will make it clear that we are ready to stop if Zelensky and his Western sponsors fulfill their obligations.

If not, our hands will be free, and we will continue to act harshly and decisively.
