Russian Defense Minister reveals the number of soldiers who will be called up after the announcement of the mobilization
The Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the total number of soldiers who will be called up after the announcement of partial mobilization in the country in light of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
“A total of 300,000 reservists will be called up,” Minister Shoigu said.
He added: “Russia has huge mobilization resources, nearly 25 million people, and those who will be subject to partial mobilization constitute 1%”.
Shoigu pointed out that those who are subject to partial mobilization are those who have served military service and have a specialized military record and combat experience, noting that the students and all those who serve in the compulsory conscription will not be sent to the special operations area.
The minister explained that partial mobilization is necessary in the first place to control the 1,000-kilometre long contact line and the liberated lands: “The communication line… can be called the front line and the line of contact, as it is more than 1,000 kilometers.
Of course, what is behind it, and what is there, along this line, these areas must be controlled… Of course, partial mobilization is necessary for this”.
Shoigu stressed that the main task of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine is being implemented, and everything is being done to solve it: “A main task has been set.
This task is in progress… We’re doing everything we can to ensure that it is complete”.
