Russia launches 120 missiles at Ukraine
The adviser to the Ukrainian President Mykhailo Podolyak announced, Thursday, that Russia targeted his country with about 120 missiles.
This came in Podolyak’s wrote in Twitter, in the wake of the Ukrainian authorities’ announcement that separate areas of the country, including the capital, Kyiv, were subjected to new Russian attacks, some of which targeted infrastructure.
The Ukrainian authorities stated that warning sirens were sounded in various parts of the country, and the air defense systems in Kyiv repelled a number of missile attacks.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba described the recent Russian missile strikes on his country during the day as “barbaric and meaningless”.
In a tweet also Kuleba added: “Senseless, barbaric attacks, these are the only words that come to mind when we see Russia unleash another missile barrage on peaceful Ukrainian cities before the New Year”.
Kuleba stressed the inability to remain neutral in the face of such attacks, which he described as collective war crimes.
He continued, “Pretending to be neutral means siding with Russia”.
Meanwhile, local authorities in the capital Kyiv and the cities of Odessa, Lviv, Kharkiv, Zhitomir, Mykolaiv and Kryvyi Rih reported explosions and power outages in connection with the Russian attacks.
The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said that the city witnessed a number of bombings today (Thursday).
Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine, in terms of area and population.
According to local sources, 3 people were wounded in Kyiv, , as a result of the attacks.
On the other hand, a missile launched by Ukrainian air defense systems fell in Belarus on Thursday, according to the authorities of this former Soviet republic allied with Russia, which supports its attack against Ukraine.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Defense stated that the missile launched by the S300 air defense system from Ukrainian territory fell in the morning on Belarusian territory.
