Russia issues an arrest warrant for the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Russian media reported on Friday, that Russia had issued an arrest warrant against the International Criminal Court prosecutor who in March prepared a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of war crimes.

The Russian media, quoting the Ministry of Interior’s database, said that the court’s public prosecutor, Karim Ahmed Khan, a British citizen, had been added to the ministry’s wanted list.

Moscow filed cases against Khan and three court judges on March 20, days after Putin’s arrest warrant was issued.

The court warrant seeks the arrest of Putin and Russia’s children’s rights commissioner, Maria Lvova Belova, on charges of war crimes related to the abduction of Ukrainian children.

Russia and Putin deny committing any war crimes during the invasion of Ukraine and say they are victims of Western aggression.
