The Russian forces have established a military base southeast of the town of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqa.

Russia has established a military base in the village of “Kalta” southeast of the town of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqa, in conjunction with crowds of the Syrian opposition backed by Turkey “Syrian National Army” in the region.

On the seventh of this month, the Russian forces established a new military post on the western outskirts of the town of Ain Issa in the countryside of Raqqa, along the M4 international road.

A military source from the “Ain Issa Military Council” of the “SDF” forces revealed that the Russian forces officially requested the “SDF” to hand over the town of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqa to the Syrian army.

A meeting was held two days ago at the Russian base in Ain Issa, which included Kurdish leaders, officers from the SDF and officials from the Russian army, in which the Russian officers informed the leadership of the SDF that the Turkish threats to invade the town are serious.

They requested that it be handed over to the Syrian army, administratively and militarily, to block the path to that threat.

The Russian side suggested to the leadership of the SDF that they establish a security square in the center of the town that includes the administration’s institutions and offices similar to the Syrian army security squares in the cities of Qamishli and Hasakah, on the condition that the Syrian flag is raised and state institutions opened in order to block the path to Turkish attacks and prevent the implementation of a large-scale attack, according to the source.

The leadership of the SDF asked for a period to study the offer, likely that it would reject the Russian offer, because Turkey and its loyal factions had asked Russia to withdraw the SDF fighters from a distance of 32 kilometers, and Ain Issa, about 37 kilometers from the Turkish border, thus exceeding the limits.

The town of Ain Issa enjoys special importance in the map of eastern Syria, and it has a prominent strategic location by its location on the international road “M4”, which Russia has been trying to open for more than a year, starting from the areas it passes through in Idlib, to the areas it passes through in eastern Syria.
