Russian President Vladimir Putin said in statements on Tuesday that Moscow is ready to use nuclear weapons if the existence of the Russian state is threatened.

Putin confirmed that Russia is ready for a nuclear war from a military and technical standpoint, but noted that not everything is pushing toward it at the present time.

He explained that if the United States conducts nuclear tests, Russia will do the same, noting that the Russian nuclear arsenal is considered more modern than any other arsenal.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Putin stressed that if the American forces enter Ukraine, they will be treated as foreigners, indicating that there is no need to use nuclear weapons in this context.

He expressed Russia’s readiness for talks on Ukraine, but on the condition that they are based on facts.

Regarding the honor agreement with the West, Putin made it clear that Russia doesn’t trust anyone anymore, and wants reliable guarantees.
