Putin breaks tradition and rides in Trump’s limousine at the latter’s request
Russian President Vladimir Putin has abandoned his tradition of traveling abroad in his own car and has switched to the private car of his US counterpart, Donald Trump, at the latter’s invitation.
Trump suggested they go together in the presidential armored Cadillac One, nicknamed “The Beast,” after the joint photo session.
Putin usually travels anywhere in the world in his own private vehicle, as this time, everything was ready for the Russian president to board the Russian presidential Aurus after landing in Alaska, a vehicle he has used in various models since 2018.
The leaders’ meeting took place at the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Base in Alaska, where Putin and Trump held closed-door talks that lasted two hours and 45 minutes.
The Russian side was represented by Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and Special Presidential Representative for Economic and Investment Cooperation with Foreign Countries Kirill Dmitriev.
It’s worth mentioning that, Russian President Vladimir Putin , before boarding his plane, laid flowers on the graves of Soviet soldiers at Fort Richardson Memorial Cemetery, following a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump in Anchorage, Alaska, sparking interaction, analysis, and speculation among social media users.
A video released by the Kremlin showed Putin kneeling and placing a bouquet of flowers on a grave before making the sign of the cross.
The Kremlin said the graves commemorate Soviet pilots and sailors who died while transporting equipment from the United States to the Soviet Union during World War II.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said ahead of the summit that Putin intends to visit the memorial site.
