
The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, said that he discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the strengthening of the existing strategic relations between their two countries.
This came in a tweet he posted on Twitter on Saturday evening in Arabic, Turkish and English, following a meeting he held with Erdoğan in Istanbul.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed wrote at the beginning of the tweet: “I was pleased to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul”.
He added, “We discussed strengthening strategic relations between the two countries and pushing forward their economic partnership”.
He stressed that the UAE is keen to deepen cooperation with its friends to support peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
Earlier on Saturday, the Turkish presidency said in a statement that President Erdoğan met Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed at Atatürk Airport in Istanbul.
Participating in the reception ceremony from the Turkish side were Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın BAK, Head of the Communication Department in the Presidency Fahrettin Altun, Head of the Intelligence Service Ibrahim Kalin, and Senior Adviser to President Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
During the ceremony, President Erdoğan briefed Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed on the “Tug” car, which is the first Turkish electric car manufactured locally.
The two presidents held a closed meeting in the state guesthouse inside Atatürk Airport.
It is scheduled that Erdoğan and Ibn Zayed will attend the final match of the European Champions League between Manchester City, England, and Inter Milan, Italy, in Istanbul, at ten o’clock in the evening, Saturday, local time (+3 GMT).
