A poll conducted in the United States showed that 64% of Americans oppose their President Donald Trump’s plan to seize the Gaza Strip and displace Palestinians from it.

The poll, conducted by the American organization Data for Progress, asked 1,200 American voters between February 8 and 9 about their opinions regarding Trump’s plan to seize Gaza.

The organization informed participants in the survey – the results of which were published on Wednesday – that Trump’s plan includes the forced displacement of Palestinians living in Gaza and their resettlement in neighboring countries.

In the survey, 64% of respondents opposed the US takeover of Gaza, and 47% of respondents said they strongly opposed the plan, while 17% said they partially opposed it.

Around 85% of Democrats, 63% of independents, and 43% of Republicans expressed opposition to the plan.

In addition, 69% of respondents said they oppose the United States sending troops to the Middle East.

On February 4, Trump revealed during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that his country intended to seize Gaza after displacing the Palestinians from it to other countries, including Egypt and Jordan.

In line with Trump’s plan, the Israeli government has begun preparing a plan that it claims aims for the voluntary departure of Palestinians from Gaza.

Trump’s plan for Gaza was met with widespread Palestinian, Arab and international rejection, while it was met with praise from the Israeli level, including various trends.
