Politico: The EU may detonate an economic nuclear bomb!
Politico reported that Brussels will have difficulty imposing a ban on the import of Russian aluminum due to strong opposition from European industrialists, who see such a decision as a devastating economic explosion.
According to the report, such a proposal will face opposition from industrialized countries such as Italy and Germany, as it will lead to an increase in prices.
The report noted that the European Union still imports 9% of the aluminum needed for its manufacture from Russia.
Industrial circles in the European Union oppose imposing sanctions on Russian aluminum, considering that taking such measures would be an economic explosion, and sanctions must not be turned into weapons.
Politico has previously reported, citing EU diplomats, that Russian aluminum products will be part of the new package of sanctions that the European Union intends to adopt by February 24.
Since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the European Union has imposed several packages of sanctions on Russia, the last of which was last December when the European Union Council adopted the twelfth package of sanctions.
