Netanyahu sacks Galant… appointing Katz as new defense minister
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the appointment of Israel Katz as defense minister, replacing Yoav Galant, who was abruptly sacked on Tuesday.
Netanyahu praised Katz as a “bulldozer,” noting his decisiveness and ability to make clear decisions.
Netanyahu explained that Katz has proven his competence in the areas of national security, having held various positions, including foreign minister, finance minister, and intelligence minister.
Netanyahu pointed out that the appointment of Katz comes as a result of his extensive experience and high executive ability, considering that these qualities make him suitable to manage the Ministry of Defense at this critical stage.
Galant’s dismissal came due to the collapse of trust between him and Netanyahu against the backdrop of the war in the Gaza Strip, as Netanyahu said, “Over the past months, the trust between us has eroded, and in light of this, I decided today to end the term of the Minister of Defense”.
After appointing Israel Katz, who was the foreign minister, as defense minister, Netanyahu appointed Gideon Sa’ar as new foreign minister.
