Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed the necessity of supporting US President Donald Trump’s plan regarding the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of implementing it.

Netanyahu said in a speech that “Trump’s plan for the Gaza Strip must be supported and implemented,” adding that “everyone says that Gaza is the largest open prison on earth, so we allowed them to leave without paying anything”.

He added that the plan aims to grant the residents of the Gaza Strip the freedom to leave it, noting that Israel supports this initiative.

Netanyahu stressed that Israel’s primary goal is to eliminate Hamas, return the detainees, and ensure that the Strip doesn’t pose a future threat to the country, noting that Israel is working to change the face of the Middle East thanks to the courage of its fighters and the decisions of the political leadership that were taken in this context.

US President Donald Trump called for the transfer and settlement of a large number of Palestinians to Jordan, Egypt and other Arab countries, which sparked Palestinian, Jordanian, Egyptian and Arab reactions rejecting this proposal and affirming the right of the Palestinian people to cling to their land and remain there.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also announced that he had held consultations with US partners in the region, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, on President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.

Rubio added in statements reported by US media that these countries did not agree to the proposed plan, expressing his hope that the Arab partners would present a better plan for the reconstruction and management of Gaza.
